Time conversion formulas
1 minute = 60 seconds; 1 hour = 60 minutes = 3,600 seconds.
1 day = 24 hours, and 1 week = 7 days. Decimal hours equal hours + minutes ÷ 60 + seconds ÷ 3,600.
Examples
90 minutes to hours
90 ÷ 60 = 1.5 hours.
2:30:00 to decimal hours
2 + 30 ÷ 60 = 2.5 hours.
Limits
- Days and weeks are fixed lengths of 24 hours and 7 days. Calendar months and years are not included.
- Decimal hours converted to h:m:s are rounded to the nearest second.

Frequently asked questions
Is 1.5 hours 1 hour 50 minutes?
No. The decimal .5 is half an hour, so 1.5 hours is 1 hour 30 minutes.
Does this account for daylight saving time?
No. It converts time lengths, not clock times, dates, or time zones.
