Set up a hand

Choose random or known opponent hands and a count from 1 to 8. Select your two cards and any 0–5 known community cards. In known-hands mode, every opponent needs two cards. Choose a card slot to open the picker; used cards are unavailable. Remove card clears the selected slot, and Close or Escape closes the picker.

Calculate fills the unknown cards from a standard 52-card deck. Cancel stops a running calculation. Changing cards or settings clears the previous result. Clear removes all cards; Copy result includes the complete scenario, method and probabilities. Cards are not saved across reloads.

Win, tie and equity are different

Win means you alone have the best five-card hand; tie means you share the best hand; loss means another player beats you. Win + tie + loss equals 100% before display rounding. Suits do not break ties. Aces can be low only in A–2–3–4–5 straights.

Equity is your expected share of the pot at showdown: a sole win contributes 1, a two-way tie 1/2, a three-way tie 1/3, and a loss 0. With multiple opponents, equity is not generally win + tie/2.

Worked example

Your hand: 2♠ 3♠. Opponent: 4♥ 5♥. Board: T♣ J♣ Q♣ K♣ A♣. The board is a royal flush for both players: win 0%, tie 100%, loss 0%, equity 50%. With two known opponents on the same board, your equity is 33.33%.

Exact or estimated

At most 50,000 possible deals are evaluated exhaustively. Larger cases use 30,000 independent uniform samples. Known opponent cards and community cards are removed before dealing; no card is duplicated. Simulations can vary between runs.

The displayed ± bound is a conservative 95% bound for each individual probability or equity estimate under independent uniform sampling (Hoeffding bound). With 30,000 samples it is about 0.79 percentage points. Exact results have no sampling uncertainty. It is not a guarantee about real opponents.

What this model assumes

This tool evaluates Texas Hold’em high hands using the best five of seven cards, with 0, 1 or 2 hole cards. Every player reaches showdown. Unknown opponent hands are equally likely legal combinations, not a betting range.

It excludes folding, future betting, rake, side pots, stacks and opponent strategy. It does not calculate profit or recommend a bet. Percentages use up to two decimals; extremely small nonzero values are shown with <, not as exact zero.

Frequently asked questions

Can I enter a range such as AKs or QQ+?

No. Choose exact cards for all opponents, or uniformly random hands for all. The calculator does not infer ranges from actions.

Why does the percentage change when I calculate again?

Large scenarios are sampled randomly. Small differences are expected; check the method, sample count and uncertainty. Exact enumeration gives the same result each time.

Can I leave the flop, turn or river unknown?

Yes. Leave any unknown board slots empty. The calculator fills the remaining board cards and evaluates the final showdown, not intermediate betting decisions.
