How to generate a random password

  1. Choose a length from 4 to 128 characters.
  2. Select every character type required by the account’s password policy.
  3. Generate, then copy the password into the destination field.
  4. Create a different password for every account and store it in a trusted password manager if needed.

What the result means

Every selected type appears at least once. Remaining positions are drawn from the combined selected characters and the whole result is shuffled with browser cryptographic randomness.

Example

With length 16 and all four types selected, the result contains lowercase and uppercase letters, a number, and a symbol. Your generated value will be different.

Limits and privacy

  • Generation uses crypto.getRandomValues with rejection sampling to avoid modulo bias.
  • The tool does not calculate a strength score or promise that any password is absolutely safe.
  • The password and settings are not stored, logged, analyzed, or sent by this page. Copying places the value on your device clipboard.
  • This tool does not change account passwords and does not include passphrases, dictionaries, or saved vaults.

Password generator FAQ

Why require each selected type?

Some sites reject a password unless it contains every requested category, so the generator places at least one character from each selected set.

Why is there no strength meter?

A simple score can overstate safety. Length, randomness, uniqueness, and the destination site’s policy all matter.

Can I recover a cleared password?

No. This page deliberately keeps no password history or browser storage.
