Make a printable arithmetic worksheet
Use this tool to prepare short practice sessions for basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Choose the operations, the smallest and largest numbers, and the number of questions. The range applies to each number shown in a question. For example, a range of 0–12 allows 12 × 12, whose answer is 144. It does not limit the answer to 12.
You can edit the worksheet title or keep the example. Select Create worksheet to create actual questions. The result starts with the student sheet, and Answer key shows the answers to those same questions. Nothing is generated merely by changing a setting. After a setting changes, generate again to replace the old output before printing.
Choose suitable question settings
Addition and multiplication use each unordered pair only once within a sheet: 3 + 4 and 4 + 3 are treated as the same question. Subtraction and division retain their order because swapping the numbers changes the problem. Identical questions are not repeated within one generated worksheet.
By default, subtraction answers cannot be negative. Enable the negative-answer option to allow problems such as 3 − 7. Whole-number division keeps only questions that divide exactly. Allow remainders permits a quotient and remainder, including a quotient of zero. A divisor is always greater than zero. These options do not enforce a school curriculum or restrict carrying and borrowing.
How question selection works
The generator first finds all distinct questions that satisfy the chosen settings. It selects from shuffled operation pools in turns, so each selected operation appears and the mix stays reasonably even until a smaller pool runs out. The requested count must be at least the number of selected operations.
If an operation has no valid question, or if there are too few distinct questions altogether, the tool explains the problem. It does not silently widen your range, insert repeats or change division mode. Widen the range, reduce the count or choose a different operation, then generate again. A new worksheet can reuse questions from earlier worksheets; uniqueness is guaranteed within each sheet, not across all visits.
Examples to check
For addition with the range 0–1, the complete distinct set is 0 + 0 = 0, 0 + 1 = 1 and 1 + 1 = 2. Asking for four questions under those settings produces a capacity message, because reversed pairs are not counted twice.
For division, 7 ÷ 3 appears only when remainders are allowed. Its answer is 2 remainder 1, since 3 × 2 + 1 = 7. For subtraction, 3 − 7 = −4 is available only with negative answers enabled. These are examples of the rules, not questions forced into every worksheet.
Print questions with matching answers
Choose whether to print questions, the answer key or both. Print / Save PDF opens the browser's print dialog; PDF creation uses its Save as PDF destination. Choose A4 or Letter and disable browser headers and footers for a clean worksheet. Each page contains at most 24 questions, with a separate answer page for the same numbered group.
The current generated question data drives both the preview and every print page. Switching between Questions and Answer key does not reshuffle anything. Generate again does create a new arrangement. Check the preview before giving learners a printed sheet, and keep its matching answer key rather than a key from an earlier generation.
Frequently asked questions
Can I make a multiplication worksheet only?
Yes. Select Multiplication and deselect the other operations. The number range applies to both factors.
Why is the requested question count unavailable?
Your range and options may allow too few distinct questions. The message gives the available count when possible.
Can answers include fractions or decimals?
No. Division uses either exact whole-number answers or a whole-number quotient with a remainder.
Does Clear erase the operation choices?
Clear removes your title and number entries and restores their examples. Operation and division choices stay selected.
Is my worksheet saved online?
No. This tool keeps the current worksheet only in this tab. Save a PDF or print it before refreshing or closing the page.
