How to use
- Choose a simple badge layout on a white background. Bands are optional and off by default. Changing the layout keeps your text and photos. Click text on the badge to edit it. Click the photo area to add or change the portrait. Text and photos belong to this person. Layout and type styles apply to everyone. The template places each field automatically. Changing the template restores its type styles; your content stays. Size and photo choices reflow the layout. You can adjust the selected text’s font, size, alignment and color. Use Undo to return to the previous design. No photo uploaded. Choose your photo; the placeholder is not printed. Choose the finished card size. For a holder, measure its insert; paper size is chosen separately for printing.
- Choose A4 or Letter, copies per person, minimum paper margin and card spacing. Include backs only when you need them. Prepare print sheets, check each page, then use Print / Save PDF. Your browser provides the PDF destination. Changing a card, its order, photo or print settings removes the previous sheets so an old version cannot be exported by mistake.
For an event, add each participant with a role and organization, then choose a photo for that selected row. The list shows row numbers and names. The photo control shows the selected person’s current name and actual uploaded filename, including when names repeat. Reordering carries the photo with the person. Imported rows start without photos. Remove the photo for a text-only badge. Crop controls move and zoom the image inside the template’s fixed portrait frame without stretching it. For example, three volunteers at two copies each produce six cards; changing to a portrait preset changes the photo area and should be checked again. The initial silhouette is a photo placeholder and is omitted from output. These are event badges and ordinary membership cards, not government identity documents, verified credentials or secure access passes.
A larger example: six people at two copies each give twelve cards. At 85.6 × 54 mm on A4 with 10 mm margins and 4 mm gaps, eight fit on the first sheet and four on the second. With backs enabled, those two sheets become four printed sides.
Before you print
Cards are measured in millimetres. The grid is centred on the page and uses complete cards only. For example, an 85 × 55 mm card on A4 with a 10 mm minimum margin and a 4 mm gap fits two columns and four rows: eight cards per side. Increasing the minimum margin can reduce that count. A partially filled last page keeps its empty positions.
Back pages follow their matching front pages. Long-edge binding mirrors the columns across the sheet; short-edge binding mirrors the rows. Card content remains upright on the back page. Select the same binding option in the printer dialog. Printers differ in feed direction and registration accuracy, so test one sheet with distinct names before printing a batch. The app cannot adjust a printer’s mechanical offset.
The dashed line is a 4 mm safe area. It is not printed. One card face per PDF page, front then back for each person. Includes your chosen bleed and an exact trim box. Copies are ordered with the printer. 300 ppi raster artwork, RGB. Ask your printer for its finished size and bleed. This is not a CMYK or PDF/X file; printers requiring those need a prepress conversion. Bleed on each edge (mm): 0–5 mm.
Use actual size or 100% in the print dialog. Disable headers, footers and extra margins, and match the selected paper. “Fit to page” may shrink the cards. Measure one printed card with a ruler. PDF export preserves the intended page dimensions when the browser honors the page settings, but downstream viewers and print drivers can still apply scaling.
Common questions
Can I use duplicate names or numbers?
Yes. Rows remain separate and print in list order; no duplicate is silently deleted.
Can I import a spreadsheet?
Paste tab-separated rows or choose a CSV/TSV file with the displayed column order. A header is optional and uses the shown English keys. A name is required. Blank lines are skipped. Files use UTF-8; export your spreadsheet accordingly if accents look wrong.
Which file should I send to a print shop?
PNG for selected person Text does not fit. Reduce the text size, shorten it, or choose another template.
How do I keep my work for later?
Save draft downloads a JSON file containing all people, settings, the logo and photos. Open it in this same tool to continue, including in another browser. Opening replaces the current editor. Save your current work first. There is no automatic saving: reloading or leaving the page loses unsaved edits. Keep a draft containing personal contact details or photos somewhere appropriate.
What are the input limits?
What are the limits? Up to 100 people, 500 card copies and 100 printed sides per preparation. Fields allow 160 characters, although the visible space may require less. Images must be PNG, JPEG or WebP, at most 8 MB and 20 megapixels each. Large images are reduced to a 1200-pixel longest edge; all embedded images together are limited to about 20 MB of encoded data. Very large batches should be split. Everything is processed in the browser; no card data or photos are uploaded.
