How to convert HEIC to JPG

  1. Choose one local HEIC still image. The tool checks the ISO media brands and decoder support instead of trusting the extension.
  2. Set JPG quality from 50 to 95. Higher values retain more detail but usually make a larger file.
  3. Convert, inspect the decoded preview and dimensions, then download the actual JPEG file.

What this converter does

HEIC stores efficient photos that many websites and older apps cannot open. This page decodes one primary still image locally and writes a broadly compatible JPEG. It is distinct from Image to JPG, which accepts browser-readable PNG, WebP and JPEG rather than HEIC.

Limits and exclusions

The file limit is 20 MB, 24 megapixels and 12,000 pixels on either side. The embedded dimensions are checked before a large decode when available and checked again afterward. Only the primary supported still image is converted. Live Photo motion, multiple-image selection, image sequences, batches and a promise to preserve HDR are excluded.

Orientation and colour

The decoder applies supported HEIF transformations before the canvas creates the JPEG. The preview and download use the same decoded pixels. JPEG has no transparency and this tool does not promise archival colour-profile or HDR equivalence; compare important colours before discarding the original.

Examples

A 4032×3024 iPhone still is about 12.2 megapixels and fits the pixel limit; the JPG keeps those decoded dimensions. A 13,000-pixel panorama is rejected even if its file is under 20 MB. A renamed JPEG with .heic is also rejected by its contents.

Errors and memory

Damaged files, unsupported HEVC variants or decoder failures produce an error while preserving the last valid file selection. Removing or replacing the image and changing quality clears the previous preview and download. Keep this tab open during conversion and retry with the original still rather than a Live Photo video component.
