Sketch beds and paths in your garden

Use this garden layout planner to organize a rectangular plot into beds, named crop areas, paths and planters. The leaf symbols identify planting areas; they do not represent a plant count. Start with the editable example or clear the objects and make your own arrangement. The supplied sizes are drawing defaults, not growing or spacing recommendations.

How to edit the plan

New items start with an empty name. Add finds a non-overlapping position; if no suitable position is found, make room before adding. Choose Door to add a movable door symbol.

Names are centered inside each object. Sprout icons sit slightly above the name. Change the item type in the selected-item editor. Click the color square beside its heading to change its color. The rotate and trash icons above the selected shape turn it by 90° or delete it.

Use Rotate for a 90° turn. Rotation moves the item inward when it would cross an edge, preserving its dimensions. If the rotated footprint is larger than the whole space, reduce its size first. Click Color to open the browser color picker. In Garden, Show sprout adds or removes the decorative leaf icon for the selected item.

Drag a selected edge to resize. Edit the name beside the color square.

Items stop at other items when moved or resized. Touching edges are allowed; overlap is blocked. Clear asks for confirmation before removing all items.

Read dimensions and coordinates

The origin is the upper-left corner. x measures from the left edge of the space to the item's left edge; y measures from the top to its top edge. Width and depth describe the item before rotation. Turning by 90° swaps its horizontal and vertical footprint and keeps its top-left position fixed. Turning again changes orientation without changing the stored item dimensions.

The grid adapts to the available screen width. Changing units converts the existing measurements without resizing the actual space. Drag a shape or use keyboard arrows to move it by 0.1 of the current unit. If an entry is incomplete or would put an item outside the space, the last valid drawing remains visible and export pauses until the value is corrected.

Two garden-layout examples

In an 8 × 6 m garden, a 2 × 1 m bed at x = 0.7, y = 0.7 extends to x = 2.7 and y = 1.7. Add another named crop area and place it separately; its name does not change the spacing or create a planting schedule.

In a 6 × 4 m plot, a 0.8 × 3 m path at x = 2, y = 0.5 reaches x = 2.8 and y = 3.5. A 90° rotation would make it 3 × 0.8 m. These are arbitrary layout examples, not prescribed path widths or cultivation guidance.

What this garden plan does not calculate

This tool draws areas you specify. It does not recommend crop spacing, growing regions, planting dates, companion plants, irrigation, pesticide use or harvest amounts. It makes no toxicity or edibility assessment. Use the drawing to record your own choices, and obtain growing guidance appropriate to your plants and location separately.

Why did a size or position fail?

Each side of a room must be 0.5–30 m; a garden may be 0.5–60 m. Feet accept equivalent sizes. Items must be at least 0.05 m wide and deep, have a name of 0–40 characters and fit inside the space. Use nonnegative coordinates and decimal points or commas, without thousands separators. If a smaller space would cut off an item, move or shrink the item first. No item is silently cropped.

Names may be blank or up to 40 characters.

Can shapes overlap?

Items stop at other items when moved or resized. Touching edges are allowed; overlap is blocked. Clear asks for confirmation before removing all items.

How do I save or print the plan?

Download SVG, Save PNG and Save PDF export the current drawing and item list. PDF uses A4 pages; long drawings continue on additional pages. These are images, not editable projects.

Will my work remain after closing the page?

The editor has no project storage or cloud sync. Download the drawing before refreshing, closing the page or changing the site language. Names you entered remain your own text and are not translated. The interface and export labels use the selected language.
