How to create a photo contact sheet
Try the four generated shapes first: they are a clearly marked example, not photos from your device. To use your own images, choose JPEG, PNG or static WebP files together. A new file selection replaces the current set. The tool checks the entire selection before accepting it; an invalid or oversized file rejects that selection instead of silently leaving a photo out.
Choose two, three or four columns and three, four or five rows per page. Keep selected file order or sort by filename, and choose A4 or Letter. The preview updates when settings change. Select Generate to confirm the sheet, page count and ordered filename list. Editing settings or selecting new files clears the confirmed result, so generate again before printing or copying.
Each white sheet is one printed page, shown to scale. Photos fill rows from left to right; unused positions stay blank. Choose Generate, then Print / Save as PDF.
Two page-count examples
With 13 photos, three columns and four rows give 12 positions per page: the first page contains 12 photos and the second contains one. With 40 photos, four columns and five rows give 20 positions per page and exactly two pages. The page count is the photo count divided by positions per page, rounded up.
A single portrait photo remains one photo on one page; it is not stretched to fill the paper. A wide image likewise keeps its original proportions inside its cell. Empty space beside or above a thumbnail is intentional. Filenames are shown below the corresponding photo, including Unicode names, and the list copied from the result follows that same order.
What this sheet is for
A contact sheet helps you compare photographs, pick frames from a session, review a small archive or share an index with a colleague. It keeps identification beside the image, rather than arranging pictures as a decorative collage. Selecting Filename order is useful for numbered sequences; the browser’s locale-aware numeric sorting puts typical numbered names in a natural sequence.
Selected file order means the order supplied by your file picker, which is not always the order in which you clicked individual files. Review the preview if sequence matters. This version does not add manual drag sorting, captions, photo editing, cloud storage or camera capture.
Supported files and practical limits
Select up to 40 photos, each no larger than 20 MB, with a combined limit of 100 MB. Each photo may contain up to 24 megapixels, and the selection may contain up to 120 megapixels in total. A small compressed file can still exceed the pixel limit. File headers are checked before decoding; unsupported or damaged files receive an error.
Animated PNG and WebP, SVG, GIF, HEIC and camera RAW files are not supported. Convert them to a still JPEG, PNG or WebP first. The browser decodes orientation information in supported photos. Inspect portrait images after import, because damaged or unusual metadata may not behave as expected. Images are reduced to thumbnails up to 1000 pixels on their longest side; this is an index, not a full-resolution photo export.
Print or save a PDF
Generate first, then select Print / Save as PDF. The print document uses the confirmed photos and filenames, with a separate page for each group. Choose the matching A4 or Letter portrait paper, disable browser headers and footers if they add unwanted dates or URLs, and inspect every page in print preview before committing.
PDF output comes from your browser’s print destination if available. The tool does not automatically create a PDF file or guarantee identical printer margins on every device. Long filenames wrap; extremely long names can take more vertical space than the cell allows. For a dense sheet, shorten names or use fewer rows and columns, then check preview again. Browser print settings remain under your control.
Are my photos uploaded or saved?
No photo upload or account is needed. Images are processed in this page and disappear from the tool when you clear it, reload or leave. Your original files are not modified. Keep any printed or saved output you need before leaving.
Why was the whole selection rejected?
Check the stated count, byte and pixel limits and the reported filename. Remove or convert the incompatible image and choose the files again. A rejected selection does not produce a partial sheet that could conceal a missing photo.
Why are some thumbnails smaller?
The original aspect ratio is preserved with contain fitting. Portrait, landscape and panoramic images therefore occupy different parts of an equally sized cell. Nothing is cropped to make the grid look full.
Can I print the example or copy the photos?
You can generate and print the clearly marked example shapes to test the workflow. Copy result copies page headings and filenames as text, not image pixels. Use the print dialog for the actual contact sheet.
What does Clear do?
Clear removes the current selection and result. Focusing a setting never erases your photos. The generated example shapes appear only when the page first opens.
