How to use the case converter

  1. Paste or type text, including any spaces and line breaks you want to retain.
  2. Choose uppercase, lowercase, sentence case, or simple title case.
  3. Select Convert, review the exact result, then use Copy result. Editing the input or mode removes the old result immediately.
  4. Use Clear to remove text, errors, and the result while keeping the selected mode.

What each mode actually does

Uppercase and lowercase call the browser’s locale-aware Unicode case conversion for the current page language. Sentence case first lowercases the text, then uppercases the first cased character at the start and after a period, question mark, exclamation mark, or line break. Simple title case lowercases the text and uppercases the first cased character of each word segment reported by the browser.

These are mechanical transformations, not grammar correction. Locale rules can expand or change characters: German ß can become SS in uppercase, and Turkish dotted or dotless I behaves differently under a Turkish locale. Whitespace and punctuation are never normalized, collapsed, trimmed, or reordered.

Checked examples

Input “ hELLO WORLD! next LINE” in Sentence case becomes “ Hello world! Next line”. The two leading spaces, three middle spaces, and line break remain.

The same input in Simple Title Case becomes “ Hello World! Next Line”. In French, “ÉCOLE déjà” becomes “École Déjà”.

Scope and practical limits

  • The title mode does not know editorial style guides. It does not preserve special lowercase articles, recognize names such as iPhone, or decide how acronyms should be capitalized.
  • Sentence mode treats the listed punctuation and every line break as a new boundary. It does not parse abbreviations, quoted dialogue, headings, or language-specific sentence grammar.
  • The tool accepts plain text only, works in this browser, and does not upload, save, translate, spell-check, or rewrite it. Copy returns the transformed text only.

Case converter FAQ

Does this change spaces or line breaks?

No. It changes letter case in place and preserves the original sequence of whitespace and punctuation.

Why can the character count change?

Some locale-aware uppercase mappings expand one character into more than one, such as ß to SS.

Is Simple Title Case publication-ready?

No. It is a predictable word-start transformation, not a style-guide or grammar editor.

Which locale is used?

The current page language is supplied to the browser’s Unicode casing and word segmentation APIs.
